Fax apps.

Are there any apps anyone can recommend that allows you to fax a document in your phone to a fax machine and vice versa?

There are web-based fax services where you upload your document and they fax it.

You could try eFax. The app is free, but the service has a fee. If you scroll down the app page, you can also see similar apps.

The playstore reviews are horribly inaccurate. Most are are just posts either because the apps asked them to or they are fluffers helping their friends out with fake reviews.

I think it's still helpful to look at reviews, but clearly you need to be selective. Focus on reviews that are specific and thoughtfully written. Critical reviews that are not just rants are probably most helpful, to point out potential flaws.
