Having problems with a few apps and my gallery after the 4.4.4 update. Anyone else? Does anyone know if the update installed "runtime ART" ?

Welcome to Android Central! You can see if ART is available by going to Settings>Developer Options and look for a Runtime option. If it isn't there, then you're still stuck with Dalvik.

Have you tried wiping the system cache partition? This can help with various issues after a system update: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11017
