The discussion below accurately describes the problem after I added a 2nd Gmail account to my Note 3. I've unselected Sync options for the 2nd account minus sync for Gmail. In fact Gallery/Settings shows that for the 2nd Gmail account "Sync is turned off". Yet I'm still prompted with a "Sign-in Request" by the Gallery app more than once daily.

For the 2nd Gmail account, I have "Sync People details" and "Sync Gmail" set. For my primary Gmail/Google account, all items are set to Sync. The primary Gmail account is set to sync in the Gallery.

Are there any other workarounds or settings I'm missing, or is it just a matter of waiting it out till Lollipop arrives for Verizon?

At a quick guess, it may be the People syncing. There is a People drop down in Gallery, and I started a thread when I saw it collected and actually cropped anonymous peoples faces from all over the place.
@jpr can explain better why, but I did turn off syncing. I can't remember exactly what stopped it.

I have a Moto G as well, where obviously People is just the Contacts app.

Good tip. Just turned off the People sync, and will see if that fixes it.

Turning off People Sync didn't do the trick. Soon as I opened the 2nd Gmail account in Gmail app, the Sign-in Request popped up. Clicking on the Sign-in Request in the Notification bar brought up the request details. Syncing Gmail is the only option enabled for this account. I checked Gallery settings and "Sync is turned off." for the 2nd account.

Update: I went ahead and accepted the request. So far all day long no more "Sign-in Request", even though there is no option in the 2nd account to setup sync for Picasa or the Gallery.

Yeh, that's a teaser. You can have two or more Gmail accounts but have only one Gallery. It's like Google never thought of that.
As long as it doesn't bother you again or copy photos you don't want it to, that may solve it.

I had a look for more settings on a Windows pc last night. There's usually more options on there, especially with Gmail.
They seem to have changed the account layout - everything's interactive, a bit like their app.

I hated that Picasa screen demanding to sync after I had just updated to KitKat.
I still don't backup photos to Google +, but some to Dropbox now.
