HELP! How to save camera photos and screenshots to Google Photos, NOT Gallery?

Camera shots and screenshots should automatically appear in the Google Photos app. Open Photos, swipe in from the left, and tap Device Folders--do you see separate categories for Camera and Screenshots?

If the problem is that the photos aren't auto-backing up to your Google Photos in the cloud, then on that same screen, make sure the cloud icon associated with each of those categories is blue. If it isn't, tap it, and it should toggle on.

The Gallery automatically shows any image on the phone's storage that isn't in a directory with a ".nomedia" file in it. (Gallery isn't an actual storage location.) There's no way to have an image show up in the Photos app but not on the Gallery app. If you don't want to use the Gallery app, you could Disable it in the App Manager.
