    Hello

Do you recommend a Vodafone Sure Signal?

If so, is there much difference between version 2 and version 3?

I need to be able to make and receive phone calls when I work from home, but the mobile phone signal is shocking. Although I sometimes get 4G, I am getting between zero and 1 bars.

Or is there an app that lets me receive SMS and phone calls over WiFi.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone, running Android 5.0 using Vodafone network, here in the UK.

    Cheers

What I normally recommend is getting a carrier that has a good signal wherever you need a signal. The only exception is if you live in a house that kills the signal, like one sheathed in aluminum siding, with foil-backed insulation under the roof.

If there's no signal where you are (0 bars), a booster is boosting 0 to ... more 0. Even 2 bars might mean a signal that "goes digital" most of the time. If there's no other way (no carrier with signal), you have no other choice, but I don't recommend it.

As for an app, check with Vodaphone to see if they offer voice over WiFi without a 2G or 3G signal. If not, VoIP with an Android app would be better than a booster.

Sorry the truth is that I don't understand any of that.

This is for my home-office. I have tried ALL the major networks and Vodafone is the best, but it is still not good.

My understanding is that Vodafone's Sure Signal is a "femtocell". As such it connects the mobile service provider’s network to broadband or cable (VirginMedia cable in my case). What it does not to is to simplistically "boost" the mobile phone signal.

The key point is that I need to be able to RECEIVE phone calls and SMS messages, as well as make phone calls to the telephone network. I'm not sure that VOIP will let you do that(??)

    Cheers
