Re: USB 2.0 lol....

I like the USB 3.0 cord better. No one else at my work or home has a Note3 and my 2.0 chargers always disappear.

To bad they didn't have a nice reversible charging connector. I hate trying to line up the USB 3.0

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

after too many broken USB2.0 micro cables, I prefer the 3.0, and have never had an issue plugging it in (find it even easier than 2.0 in the dark because I can feel for the indent). space requirements or not, it is kind of disappointing, especially since that excuse doesn't apply to the new USB 3.1 reversible 'standard' we are waiting to see out there, would have been the ideal first device to use it as the Note is a great flagship device for that kind of thing (not to mention Qi charging)

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0

I agree, it is unfortunate that they've gone to USB 2.0, especially considering they had USB 3.0 in the previous model, but that's the decision they made. I'm guessing it was a financial decision and they didn't want to pay, or couldn't source enough USB 3.0 parts for the device.

I don't believe that 'people weren't using the USB 3.0' explanation - if that were the case, then there would be a bunch of features that would be cut out of Samsung phones due to minimal use from consumers.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

I'm very disappointed on the decision to go back to 2.0. I hope there will be a version with 3.0. In my time with my note 3. The perks to 3.0 are
1. Faster charging. (after using 3.0, using 2.0 on my note 3 is like watching paint dry. Someone just kill me already lol
2. More durable.. I haven't had a single problem from my 3.0 charger. I have 20+ 2.0 chargers that all suck and half work.
3. Transfer speeds... If u move video, pics and music from phone to laptop, PC or tablet.. 3.0 does it in 1/2 the time 2.0 does. I would let mt device fill up, before moving my media to drobbox knowing that 3.0 would move it all in 15 minutes.. I'm talking 15+ gigs people
How I'll miss u 3.0

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

On my note 3 I noticed that the charging wasn't any faster whether I use 3.0 or 2.0. On my S5 I don't even bother with 3.0, I've got a 3.0 cable but I just use the 2.0 provided. This isn't really a big deal for me.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

The Galaxy Note 3 is the only product that used the USB 3.0. Every device i have is USB 2.0, so I could care less. It was a pain when i had to charge my Note 10.1 2014 edition and my Note 3 with different cable. Plus samsung put USB 3.0 on Note 3 because they said faster charging. Note 4 comes with "50% battery in 30 Min" fast charge

Well s5 had it too.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

But no reason to downgrade ... Backward compatible

That's what I thought. the video I watched said they deliberately got rid of USB 3.0 because of compatibility issues. I frankly don't understand what the fuss is. It's backward compatible.

What's good about usb 3.0 is you can use a 2.0 charger for charging, the 2.0 you cant use the usb 3.0....and I compared the charging time between them and 3.0 is alot faster using wall charger

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

You could charge them both with the same cable though....

I very rarely use the USB3.0 cable to charge my Note3 I just whatever micro USB charger is knocking about. I have used the USB 3.0 charger for data transfer and it is much much better.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

Perhaps they could not achieve the rapid power charging feature with a USB 3.0 cable and felt that would be a bigger draw for us which it can be, if I wasn't planning having a second battery for immediate swap unlike the iphone wall huggers.

Nope. It has nothing to do with USB 3,0. It has to do with the charging capacity of the wall charger. There is no such thing as a USB 3.0 wall charger.

A 2.1 amp wall charger will charge the Note 3 from 0-100 in just over 2 hours...

A 1 amp wall charger will charge the Note 3 from 0-100 in just under 4 hours...

USB 3.0 is designed for faster data transfer and faster charging via PC's equipped with USB 3.0 ports...up to 900ma IIRC. It has NOTHING to do with car or wall chargers.

ANY WALL OR CAR charger can use a USB 3.0 cable...no matter when they were made.

Re: USB 2.0 lol....

I recently purchased a Kindle Fire HDX with a micro-USB 2.0 wall charger from Amazon. When I plugged my SG3 into the Kindle charger, charge times went from overnight to 2-3 hours. So quick charging doesn't require USB 3.0.

But I do want USB 3.0 for data transfer speeds, so if Samsung downgraded the Note 4 to USB 2.0 to increase their profit margins, it may have backfired because I'm going to get the SG5 for the USB 3.0 and IP67 protection (although I'd love to have the bigger screen, faster processor and 3GB of RAM of the Note 4).

Maybe Samsung should come out with an SG6 with the above Note 4 features and lose the stylus to save space if that was their reasoning for dropping USB 3.0.
