Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

You do know that in order to be eligible for the sammy rebate that you need to pick up/trade in IN STORE right... i hope u mean u ordered online at sprint and chose in store pick up option.... also what do you mean that ur not gonna get the same exact amount for the rebate part???? no matter which path you go (BB or samsung) you're gonna get a total of $200 bucks no matter what.... BB is instant 200 bucks... sammy is ur trade in value PLUS the $200 minus the trade in value... either way you get $200 dollars towards the phone....

I reviewed the T&C of the Samsung promotion and it didn't say anything about having to pick-up in store. It says you need the receipts for the trade and the order, which I have (or rather will have). At any rate, it wasn't an option--they only offered to ship.

Sprint's website claims the Samsung promotion is different, so I'm not sure what will fly--most likely Sprint's wording is just wrong. Sprint claims that the Samsung promotion "doubles" the value of your trade-in. So if your trade-in is valued at $50, you'll get $50 back from Samsung. However, the link Sprint provides does indeed take you to https://samsunggalaxypromotions.com/note4, so I really just think that the web or marketing folks at Sprint don't understand the Samsung promotion. But I'm just going by what Sprint wrote in its website at the moment.

Nope., will cost you more then off contract price because when you buy on contract at bestbuy, they have their own separate etf so you would have to pay off the at&t etf and bestbuy etf.

Ok I can't find anything on these ETF from BB. I also asked in store and was told they do not have ETF only the carrier. I will keep checking on this.

I could be wrong and they don't have an etf anymore but I know other third party retailers still have their own etf. I know amazon in the past had their own etf if you cancelled within the first 6 months of the contract.

Amazon still has their own ETF if you cancel within the first 181 days.

"Note: Should you cancel your service with the carrier within 181 days, you may also be subject to an additional fee per the Instant Discount Policy."

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

People are really confused, and I understand why. There are like 5 promotions out there but they are all different (Samsung Direct, Best Buy Samsung Trade in, Sprint Samsung Trade in, Ect Carrier ect. You have the read the fine print of whichever one you choose to go with. Do not try to combine them or read all of them. Just pick the one you're going to do and read the terms and follow them closely. Best Buy has the best deal (instant rebate for any working phone) - I do not know of early termination fees - I am eligible for the 2 year upgrade because I called into Sprint and asked for it since I was within 120 days. I would think Verizon or ATT will allow you to upgrade early or you can pay for the early upgrade which would still be cheaper than buying outright at $700+

I'll assume I'm "the other guy" lol - Okay this is the deal-- the entire reason why I wanted to go through BB and get my preorder done (and luckily I did it yesterday @ 6pm EST) Best Buy will take any working smartphone (regardless of value and no cracked screen) they also prefer it to be IOS, Android, or Windows OS. I am buying a old used Samsung Galaxy for like $10.00 and trading it in to Best Buy for $200 instant rebate (gift card) and apply it to my phone, then I'm taking the phone I'm currently using (GS4) and trading it in to best buy as a separate transaction for $155. This gives me a total of $355 of giftcards to buy a $299 phone (After it's price matched). You cannot get the direct samsung rebate unless your phone is valued at $10+. It seems like Best Buy is taking the hit on the $10 if the phone does not meet Samsung minimum requirements or they are also banking on the phones that are traded in that exceed that value. This is probably one of the reasons that BB is almost sold out of all its preorders. I highly suggest calling around and seeing who is still taking preorders - Make sure you call all the Best Buy Mobiles, and nobody will do it over the phone because you have to be present with photo ID.

Hope this helps

edit - If you are with Sprint you can call into Retention and get your upgrade pushed through if you're close 90-120 days. If you aren't close you can pay $100-150 to get an early upgrade.
The deal is per line and can not be merged with two trades into one line. The trade is at the same time and a one to one relationship with a data line that is due an upgrade. The only way that could work is if Best Buy did not use their system for the purchase, which is obviously not happening.

Good luck on your attempt and please do not be offended by the incredulous looks you will probably get expecting them to fall for it. ;)

.....Are you joking or serious?

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

Unfortunately I don't trust Samsung enough to honor that as I could see them declining the rebate if you preorder and trade in at different locations. That is why I preordered at Amazon because I can get over 10 for my thunderbolt where as verizon would give me less.

Dude read the brand new FAQs link for the Samsung promotion that someone posted above. You can absolutely 100% do the two transactions separately... You're officially even more paranoid than I am...And that's saying SOMETHING!

Samsung posted this: https://samsunggalaxypromotions.com/note4/Content/Faq.pdf

This is important for the Samsung check:

5. If I have a trade in for less than $10.00 would I still be applicable for this promotion?

No. To participate in this promotion, you need to trade in a working smartphone and receive a trade-in credit of at least $10 or more.

The faq link is right here.... You can definitely pre order at VZW store and separately trade in your old phone to Worst buy as long as you get At Least $10 of credit for your trade in...stop being paranoid :p

I know it says separate receipts but I asked Samsung customer service about doing it in two different places and they said it's fine...some ppl have no choice, like me..my phone is ONLY worth more than 10$ at BB so I gotta do it this way...

Yes it says separately but it does not specifically state you can do a trade in at a different retailer then where you preordered so if they felt like not honoring it they could. The seperate receipt just means you can preorder now and trade in at a later date. Until they specifically say something on this I would rather play it safe.

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

After being told at both of my local BB the VZW N4 wasn't available for pre-order, DH and I decided to pre-order directly at the VZW store. We were eligible for full upgrade discounts but I chose to do my pre-order on the Edge program and he did the reg upgrade. At first, I was going to do the upgrade and not chance being rejected over the Edge program but this Sammy direct promo is also open to T-Mobile customers, and they no longer offer contracts, so I figured I'd take the gamble. The only thing that's left is to go back for the trade-in, submit the paperwork to Samsung and wait. For anyone else thinking of pre-ordering more than one, remember the terms and conditions say "limit 1 offer per pre-order receipt," so make sure each one has it's own receipt :)

As a side "note," I was able to play with the N4 at BB and now I'm REALLY desperate to get my hands on it! I also happened to check my heart rate while messing with it, and it was WAY above normal! Is it possible I was THAT EXCITED to have my petite hands on it?! AbsoFreakingLutely!! Lol :p

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

I am switching from Sprint to Tmobile. I've had Sprint for over 10 years, so no clue really how TMobile trade-in's work. I went yesterday to preorder my Note 4 and did a trade in where they quoted the most I would get is 40$ which is on my preorder reciept.

I'm guessing Samsung doesn't care what the phone is actually worth? Because lets say you trade in a phone for 10$ through TMobile, which you then have to send your phone in and they give you 5$ trade in on your bill. I'm guessing Samsung doesnt actually follow up? They are just looking at what you are quoted in the store?

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

Can Samsung really be tracking this? I am new to TMobile, just signed up yesterday. Anyways, they put on my preorder that the phone I was trading in had a maximum trade in of 40 bucks. I assume after they inspect it, they will then come up with a price. If I traded in a 10 dollar phone and after I sent it in, they valued it at 5 bucks, is Samsung really going to follow up on all of this? Or are they just keeping track that you actually traded in a phone and got a quote when you preordered?

As I read it, your "receipt" needs to show what the value of your trade-in was. For example, our S3s netted us a specifc trade-in value from Sprint. Our receipt for our trade-in needs to show that dollar value (I did each of my two pre-orders separately). I don't think that Samsung will "revalue" your trade-in--what you got for it is what you got. So best thing is to find a retailer that will value your trade-in on the receipt as $10 or more.

From Samsung promo page "You will receive a confirmation email once your information is submitted. Your rebate check will be mailed to you approximately 6 to 8 weeks after validation of your purchase and offer claim. Need assistance? Contact Us."

What's definition of a smartphone? I plan on trading in a virgin mobile Kyocera Kona. Verizon online says it has a trade-in value of $21. Does it have a HEX MEID number? Can Samsung even reject your rebate offer claim after you've traded in an old phone and sent in paperwork with Note 4 pre-order? Do they care what "smartphone" you've traded in as long as trade in is over $10?

Re: samsung $200 trade in promotion

Went to Verizon today and pre-ordered - they really didn't know what the deal was and told me I had to notify Samsung about my pre-order and send the phone to them - that's not what I just read on Samsung's page. Guess I'm going to have to go to Verizon and figure out how to do this trade-in thing.

HOWEVER...I did stop at Best Buy because they had a Note 4 phone to see - Verizon did not/

The maximum brightness of the screen compared in this pic with the maximum brightness of my S3 astounded me.
S3 and Note 4 max brightness comparison.jpg

I also like the fact that there were numbers above the alphabet keyboard.

Re: Note 4 samsung $200 trade in promotion

I was going to try to trade in my old iPhone 3GS...but after reading the T&C it doesn't look promising since it's under $10 in value...

Where are you trying to pre-order? BB doesn't care if it is under $10. T-mobile is over $10 for the 3GS (or it was last week). Amazon is over $10 if in good condition (including charger & cable). If you can trade in one retailer and pre-order from another you could try to trade at T-mobile (I don't know if they buy outright without you buying something in return) or Amazon (mail in, but a risk it gets rejected and returned). Of course, it is still not clear if you can trade and pre-order from different retailers (it says separate receipts are ok, but no clear if separate receipts from separate retailers is ok).

Some other people are buying new phones (for around $50) that have trades over $10.
