Press the apps button, to the left of the home button, and you will see all recent apps. You can close individual ones by swiping left or right. Close all by hitting the icon on the right with an X on it.

While that works fairly well, it does NOT close all open apps. The Samsung music app will still stay open. You can use the native "Active Apps" widget to close your apps as well, and it will close whichever one you like, or use the "End All" button to close them all.

Thanks FBA you are correct to completely close all apps. Some do remain open to serve whatever function. That Active Apps can also be accessed from the same recent apps function, just select the icon on the left side, like a pie graph. Or use the widget if you prefer.
