Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Question about screen resolution

I'm confused a bit by the screen resolution of the Note 4. Specifically when I try to use HD photos on my home screen, I understood that I could use pics with resolutions of 2560x1440. However when I try to use pics with that resolution, it forces me to crop the image. Like this:

Once I do that the image looks "magnified" on my home screen, and much of the image doesn't even appear.
Am I doing something wrong?

No you're not doing anything wrong. It's just a landscape versus portrait issue, the resolution is correct. Try to find the proper resolution images in portrait orientation otherwise you will have to crop them as you as seeing in the image you posted.

1440 x 2560 - here's a website that has some or you can search Google images using the 1440 x 2560 criteria Wallpaper Lg G3 1440 2560 624 - 1440 x 2560 - Lg G3 1440 2560 Quad Hd Awesome - photo image free beautiful

I was going to ask this last night, but passed out early. This has driven me crazy for a few days now trying to figure it out myself.

This has always made me mad. Tried using 1440x2560 in portrait but still can't find one to fit perfectly. I really want to make this one work somehow

To not crop, use photos with 2560x2560 ideally, especially if you want to scroll your wallpaper. Good luck finding portrait pictures to fit. They are basically just pre-cropped normal pictures - 16:10, 16:9 or 4:3. Besides that, you can find landscape pictures with a height at least 2560 and you won't see any degradation.

Like this? Use Zedge, this wallpaper is on there, it's 2880 x 2560 I think. When you find it, hit the download in Zedge, once it downloads, hit the set button in Zedge. It won't force you to crop it like the stock wallpaper setting causes.

I went to the website mhunter listed above and the ones I downloaded fit perfectly on my home screen. I never really thought about 2560 x 1440 being different than 1440 x 2560, but the latter is the portrait version of the former I guess.

Just a heads up on using HD images, when the Note 3 came out I remember reading a thread about a user that had bad battery drain. Granted she had every imaginable notification set to "ON" on her device. After some troubleshooting she started to suspect that it was her wallpaper that was causing the battery to drain faster. IIRC, she had the image stored on her SD card and the phone had to read the image from the SD card which didn't help. Keep that in mind if you notice your battery draining faster than usual. I would hope the Note 4 doesn't have the same issues, but at least we have a history of known issues if they behave similar.

The HDR mode also helps a lot
