My Note 4 has a problem where the volume turns up by itself every night.

Before bed I turn all volume levels to zero. Sometime over night the volume levels increase slightly as shown in the picture.

This is before my alarm rings in the morning. This happens if blocking mode is on or off. Makes no difference.

I have the Smart Alarm option turned on. The alarm is set to the lowest volume. But like I said, the volume gets turned up before the alarm rings so I don't think it's related to the Smart Alarm.

I had noticed that this happened on my previous phone, Samsung Galaxy S3 too. I wonder if some setting transferred over to my Note 4 from the auto backup that Google does.

I started fresh with my apps and didn't let them auto install from Google Play.

I don't think it's an app I've installed that is causing this, but maybe it is.

Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas of what to check?

Do you turn it down with the volume rocker or pull down the notifications and mute it?

I push the physical volume button on the side, touch the gear on the popup, then set all the volumes to zero.

Do you run any automation apps? Tasker, llama, automate it? Could this be a built in rule in one of those?

l checked again this morning and the volume levels are still increasing overnight but it's not even consistent. One night its like the first picture in the first post. Last night it's different volume levels and some are so zero. See attached picture.

Happened again this morning. Volume levels were very high too. I checked my phone about 30 min before my alarm was to go off and this is what I found:

Anyone have any ideas what else to check?

Instead of using the sliders just hold down the volume button on the side until it vibrates. If you want the vibration off, push it once more. I don't know why that would make any difference, but that is how I do mine every night and it stays. Let us know if it increases again.
    Good Luck!

I'll try that. Thanks for the idea.

It happened again overnight. This time 2 of the volumes were maxed out, one being notifications so I got woke up early. :-/

I created a Tasker profile to log the volume levels to a file every 2 min. From that I discovered (today at least) is that the volume levels increased @ 6:00 am today.

Sounds like something it adjusting it to normal or loud at the preset hour.
Is there anything set in Tasker? Any other app that can do this that you installed?
I don't think the built in quiet time adjusts volumes.
    Good Luck!

I have had a Note 4 for a little over a week. I still find myself accidentally changing the volume. I finally learned to avoid touching the volume buttons when I hold it normally, but still I find that I accidentally touch them while handling the phone.

I use my phone as my alarm clock, and I find that when setting it into my improvised bedside holder (a business card holder) I sometimes touch a volume button. I have sometimes turned the volume all the way down, so that I did not hear my alarm.

You probably are not having my same problem, because you would have noticed the volume image coming up on the screen. But, sometimes I have not noticed when I hit those buttons, because I am fiddling with something else, and not looking at the screen.

My LG G2 does the same thing. I turn everything off at night (to vibrate only) and when I wake up the volumes are all on and dinging. Hopefully someone can help.
