I understand people's urge to let the beauty going naked. However, samsung (and maybe other vendors) has a historic design flaw that allows dust getting into the housing of proximity sensor from the space between the side rim and the front glass (or maybe back cover).

The most prominent problem is that the ADC value of proximity sensor will go above 90, and the phone screen will turn off when you put the phone to your ear, but it will NOT turn back on when you take the phone off your ear.

It also interferes with any app utilizing proximity sensors.

What I suggest is that, even if you go naked, buy some skin protector, such as invisible shield, best skin ever, etc. Cut a small piece that covers the space between the side rim and the front glass and back cover. This way, no dust can enter the proximity sensor housing from those cracks.

Or if you do go nekid (like me), just periodically use canned air to blow any accumulated debris off the affected area. Doing so, never had a problem with the proximity sensor.
The famous canned air doesn't really work 100%, maybe 50% or so, and its quite annoying when it doesn't work.

Canned air and a soft bristle brush kind of like a makeup brush, this whole set for 12 bucks. I am sure one of them will work fine. They are good for brushing dust and lint off of camera lenses and even your computer monitor and flat screen TV. Very good for knocking the dust off between major cleanings of the screens.

Thanks. Where is the prox sensor? Between the top bezel and the glass? Like where the supposed gap is?

Thanks. So the dust enters through the gap at the top, where the gap is that everyone complained about? Or it enters by the speaker?

Never ran into any such problems before with any of my phones but then again never had any phones with a gap. I'll just keep a good look out for any signs of dust.

    girls love tech too
