I'm in the same boat as you OP... i've been looking at the G3 heavily, but the Note 4 is a very nice device (except for ya know.. touchwiz ). Also was looking at the OnePlus One.

Hopefully some good info comes out of this thread!

Eh, as someone who hated TouchWiz on the GS3 I would take the current iteration of TouchWiz over LG's interface. I don't know if it's the difference in the processor or the skin but my friend's G3 feels slow compared to my Note 4.

Touchwiz isn't what it used to be for sure. It is speedy and fluid now. I like it as much if not more than Nova Prime and I have been a Nova user for years.

God I hate the g3 the few times I played with it in the store. Seriously if they have waited for the snapdragon 805 cpu it would of been great Imo

I would strike out the G3 from that comparison as it has older hardware. The moto x will give you a great experience with near stock android.

If you care about viewing media and photography, the Note will be your best choice.

I'll tell you that I have generally been anti-samsung in the past due to the quality of their hardware. Not anymore. I am now holding a note 4. It is like a different company made it.

The moto x is a great device. That's a hard choice between the two, but the note will give you more features and functionality.

I used the G3 heavily for months in alI types of environments. Liked it alot but switched it out for the note 4 primarily for the much better screen (my opinion of course).

The LG low weight is a plus and physically it is an excellent size BUT the Note 4 screen is over the top!! Won me over and I don't regret the decision after 3 weeks.

Same scenario for me. I got the G3 on launch day and really liked it other than some overheating issues. You cannot compare the screens in my opinion as each has gone for a different experience. Both are QHD but LG went for true to life color experience and Samsung is high contrast and saturation. Both are beautiful displays and in the end for me it came down to me favoring Samsung software and functionality. You cant go wrong with either of these phones. The G3 is a lot lighter in the hand and feels better in the hand but you give up a lot of functionality for that. It really comes down to preference and what are you going to be doing with this phone.

The hardware while I never mind it and preferred over metal or glass I could see why people hated it and the shiny plastic Was sort of annoying and the soft touch on the S5, note 3 and 4 are pretty good the metal frame is pretty good unless you live somewhere freezing all year round lol

No phone is future proof, but the Note 4 will be a powerhouse for quite some time. Plus all of the functionality of the s-pen. For me it's the Note 4.

I have used the G3 since launch and definitely like it, except for battery life isn't great(I'm averaging 2.5-3 screen time, about 12-14 hours max total) I just got a Note 4 as a replacement, more for the better battery life than anything else. In the 4 days I have had though, I agree its a great device, beautiful screen, fast. The battery isn't as good as I had hoped. I've never lasted more than 18 hours with 4-5 hours of SOT. Still within my 2 week return window, so I am still undecided.

Both of my daughters got the G3 when contract came up. It is a nice phone. I waited for the Note 4. Now they both want the Note. They love the pen and there is No denying the super amoled screen is by far the best available. Either way u can't loose.

I was looking for a smaller phone than my G2 that met an untimely end when I dropped it on concrete and it landed on the corner just right and destroyed the screen. It had been almost indestructible, but having small hands and determined to get a real case I wanted a smaller phone and decided on the MOTOX I was disappointed. Three of my last four phones were Motorola. So it was a brand I thought I knew, the hardware seemed sturdy enough, but it uses, Google's "Now" launcher. That is one launcher that I hate. I can't tell you why and you may like it. But it drives me nuts, so I traded it on a Kyoceria DuraForce of all things. But its a so called rugged phone, no need to buy a case. Time will tell just how rugged. At least it's not Google Now.

Why not just change the launcher?

I would ask how important the camera is as well. The moto x will be average at best. The g3 has a great camera, but it has slower over all performance. I think the note 4 is the best overall phone is you can handle the size. From screen, battery life, camera, s pen has been of great use for me.

I agree, the Note 4 is an awesome phone! I've had it for a few months now and I can't imagine a phone without a s-pen.

I keep seeing that sentiment and it disappoints me. The G2 was such a stellar device that it's sad to see its successor so poorly received. I'm putting my hopes in the G Flex 2 and I hope it's LG's winner for '15.
