Smart remote vs LG TV

I've a LG 42LH3800 ( yeah I know it's a few years old), But I can't get the smart remote to work with it. I've tried all the codes and even written Samsung but no response so far. Does anyone have an idea how to get this TV to work with the remote?

LG does have their own smartphone app for remote control. I downloaded it from the Play Store.

That's true, but unfortunately my model is not in the list.

Am not upgrading my TV just to use the remote . it's cheaper using a universal remote.

IIRC LG has two apps in the Play Store, one for their newer models & one for the older ones. Did you check both LG apps for your TV?

I have a LG Google tv that is not in LG's list but it works with the LG app. Did you try it or just look at the list?

Mine works with my LG TV with no issues.
