My battery is suffering pretty bad recently because my phone is constantly being awake in the background when I'm working. Attached are my screenshots. What app besides wake lock detector which, to my knowledge, requires a root, should I use? At 32 percent with the following stats...

Beginning to wonder if it's my battery because fast charge earlier got me from 8 percent to 45 percent in 30 minutes which is less than the usual 42-47 percent increase I typically get. So out of curiosity as soon as thirty minutes were up at my phone was at 45 percent I powered down and pulled the battery. Reinserted 30 seconds later and powered on to see my battery at 60%??! What is going on?

Mine is also October (21st to be exact). Haven't even had two months. A few minutes ago before I plugged in, I had 13 hours of standby, 3 hours and 51 minutes screen time and only 7 percent battery left. GSAM just last week before I updated said on average I was getting 4 hours and 50 some minutes of screen time and over 16 hours of standby. Huge difference and I have no clue as to why.

I've seen an issue with alarms on some devices causing an inappropriate amount of wakelock. See what happens if you turn the alarm clock off.

Something is definitely wrong somewhere. You said it was after the update. Did you notice any added apps with the update? Probably it's a carrier induced bug that can be fix soon for you guys having similar drain.

1) Wakelock Detector can be run on unrooted phone. It's not difficult, but it's not trivial. See Wakelock with non-rooted KitKat.

Beginning to wonder if it's my battery because fast charge earlier got me from 8 percent to 45 percent
2) Constantly draining the battery down to 8% is going to kill it fast. See the second chart at Battery University - How to Prolong Lithium-based Batteries and do the arithmetic. (300 charges, if you do it twice a day, is about 5 months - for a battery that could last for at least a few years if treated properly.)
