Depends on what you mean by notably less. Look at what safety and/or mission critical pieces of gear cost to get an idea. That level would make the N4 cost significantly higher than $2000 and is certainly overkill. But let's just say quality & reliability improvements drove the cost to $1000 - what would their sales numbers look like at that level? How many people are willing to pay a premium for a device they will likely replace in 2 years time?
    Or less...

That's in line with my expectations. So perhaps it's just AT&T that is charging $825.
Verizon is the cheapest, att most expensive. Others are somewhere in the middle

I must admit I'm finding this thread entertaining. At least the discussion is staying civil which is great. I think the expectation of quality with higher price is natural but 800 for a phone like this really isn't that much higher considering the feature set. Look at the nexus line, prices are going up significantly each generation. The screen on the Note 4 surpasses all others. Add on the active stylus, expandable storage and replaceable battery along with the ability to add on wireless charging and how can one possibly compare an iPhone to it on feature set?

Quality yes.... I would expect nothing less than better quality numbers from Apple, they make what, a few mobile devices? There's different variations of the iPhone but they are all essentially the same. The reduced number of product types with higher production volume should give better yield I would think. I've never been a fan of Samsung's shotgun approach to products but it works for them so we can't change that.

It is a good thread. No doubt the vendors have done significant homework on developing pricing curves for these devices and it would be interesting to see where the knees in their projections are.
