So I go into settings and I create my own vibration pattern for notification. I set it to that and when I get text messages and it's still the double vibrate? Also when I'm in the thetext message conversation and I get a text from the person in the convesarion, it does not vibrate? Am I doing something wrong?

Are you using the default program for messaging? Try setting the notifications you want in the settings of the messaging program. It sounds like you are changing the default for the whole phone and the messaging app has its own settings and does not use the default.
    Good Luck!
