Sometimes whenever I get a Gmail, Facebook or any notification sound it comes in really quiet. This is WITH my volume all the way up. It sounds almost like it's at 50%. Even when I go to turn the volumes up it's already up and for 5-10 pushes it's quieter then all of a sudden comes back loud.

It's reeeaally annoying. Anyone know why this is happening?

And yes, all volumes including ringtone, media, notifications and system are turned all the way up.

    It happens often.

Funny u bring that up cuz I have been having the same issue for quite some time...when I check the notification volume, it's turned all the way up!

does the sound increase automatically as u try to use the phone longer? cuz sometimes when i unlock the phone the sound is low, but as soon as I start doing other things, the volume comes back up all the way!

Yes! Exactly my problem as well. Even when I hit the Vol+ rocker it sounds about half as loud as it should with those volume "beeps" until about 3 seconds in and then they're loud again.

Hopefully we can get more users with the problem and figure it out.

Hopefully when the Lollipop update comes it will be worked out.

BTW, I'm on Sprint with my Note 4.

What you are experiencing may, just may, be related to the "increasing ring volume" feature found on a lot of Samsung phones. Try out this app and see if it corrects for your increasing notification sounds volumes as well. It may be a long-shot, but at least It's something to try.

I know for a fact that the Ringtone volume has been like that...everytime I get a call, the ringer is low initially and then all of a sudden the volume shoots up..wasn't bothering me much, but i think it's long overdue that I give this option a shot!

Man I wish it were that easy... Lol.

I tried it and it still does it. I've never had this issue with the Epic 4G, Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S4, Note 2 or Note 3...

I'm certain it's something from an update as others say it started after months of use, but it's really annoying... My wife got her Note 4 the same day (2 weeks ago) and she doesn't have the problem. Then 3 of 4 of my friends online say they also have the issue...

Let's keep this thread alive and formal. Maybe it will be featured or investigated by the guys on Android Central...

I'm definitely having this problem too. Note 4 att. Mostly when I'm on pandora, for some reason clicking on a song in my music player usually works. Only problem I have with this phone but becoming a big one.

I have something similar. Mine seems to be more related to text notification sounds. It's just totally random whether I'll get an audible notification or not. The blinking LED always works but the audible one is totally unreliable. I have checked all apps and settings I can find on the phone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many apps including chompSMS. No one seems to know. I don't get many calls so I don't know if ringtone is affected.

I also have this problem, and also often it sounds like the notification sound is echoing or playing itself twice at the same time slightly out of sync.

As I have recently purchased this phone, I am worried it may be a hardware fault and I'd like to figure out if it is likely to be hardware or not while still in the warranty period?

I'm guessing everyone has tried increasing the notification volume level specifically and not just by using the up/down volume buttons that control ringer volume. If you simply use the up/down buttons be sure to tap on the Gear icon that shows to the right of the volume level bar and you can then set volume level individually for ringer, media, notifications, and system.
