How come when I clear history, when I type in the address bar, the history is there still? How do I clear it. I went through settings and from the browser itself and links are there still.

Are you using Chrome? The history sounds like it's tied to your Google account. If that's the case, you need to delete the history from your Google account page. Access the page from mobile or computer.

Did you try long press on home button, manage apps, choose internet browser, clear data and cache.
