I had the notification to install the pre lollipop update and it got pushed through and installed, but I was able to cancel the lollipop update. Does anyone know what the first update does. I am going to block the ota updates on my note 4 before lollipop gets pushed as some people have been having bad battery life after it and I would rather keep the good battery life I am currently getting over having android 5.0 right now.

    Thanks

5.0-5.0.2 had a memory leak - which can lead to high battery use. I wouldn't update to anything less than 5.1 - and I'd still wait a few months to see how many people complain about bugs in that one. (My wife has 5.0 on an AT&T Note 3, but she's seldom away from a wall outlet. Other than that I haven't heard any complaints. I'm still on 4.4.2, waiting for something worth updating to.)

I blocked the ota updates and still on 4.4.4. I only got the pre update that was to prepare the phone for 5.0.1 before ingot the ota's blocked. I am guessing I should be OK and hope it did not do too much to the phone.

I installed 5.0.1 yesterday (I did NOT factory reset after install). My battery life improved. The phone feels snappier too. Granted, it's only been one day but I'm going to keep an eye on it.

Ya I was debating if I wanted to do the 5.0.1 update as some people did not have problems, but some were having problems including battery life at half the level it was on 4.4.4 so I decided to not risk it and stick with 4.4.4 as lollipop does not matter that much to me.
