Uhh no, it's not Verizon only when it comes to GPS issue. My T-Mobile variant does it too. Spent 10 minutes in a park with no tree cover trying to get lock yesterday. After several minutes of waiting I began running through random "fixes" suggested in this thread and several others. This is not new to me, it happens occasionally (only because I rarely need navigation). Somehow between resetting AGPS state, redownloading AGPS data, synchronizing the clock, and a couple of reboots things began to work again. It was not the compass, that was already calibrated (I checked). Most frustrating thing is even after lock there is drop in signal randomly in wide open places.
