Hi all.

Sammobile said that they heard about 64 bit testing is going on for exynos chipsets.

What do you think about this? Can this be a Samsung behavior?

I personally don't think that 64 bit will offer a performer increase

It won't - at least not with a phone that has less than 4GB of RAM. It makes some difference in performance, but not enough to adopt it wholesale too soon - it's also a lot of work to do it properly, and on a handset with less than 4GB RAM it's a lot of work for little performance gain.

But phones with more RAM are coming, so I have little doubt that Samsung is testing 64-bit builds of Android/TouchWiz, and it'll come out probably about a generation *before* the first phones equipped with more than 4GB of RAM.

It may just be for testing purposes, maybe with SPen features for the Note 5? Who really knows, Samsung's R&D dept. are forever up to something. :)
Looking forward to 5.1.1 though.

Apple design their tablets phones and ios as 64 bit although they ship them with minimal amount of RAM. So I think there should be some advantage of it besides addressing more RAM.
