I've been using Google Play for music but have recently discovered PowerAmp player. It is so much better. I started to download my music from Google to my phone. When I tried to find it to play it was no where to be found. I got some help in another thread and found the music but it was taking forever to move it so I could playback using PowerAmp. I then remembered I had copied my music to an external hard drive. I was able to move most of my music to my phone to play using PowerAmp. I then realized some of my music had been purchased years back for an IPod I had (My darker days). Of course I can't play it because of DRM coding. I do not own a PC to do any converting, so I resigned myself to purchasing the music again. Here is my problem. I purchased a song from Amazon (to test my system) with the understanding I would be able to play it using any player. Again can't find music on my device and I don't want to use Amazon player. So where can I download music to play on my device using Poweramp ????

    Couple questions:

    1. Have you gone into Poweramp settings to do a scan of your phone for music? If not, go into your Poweramp settings and do a scan of your phone for music.

    2. Do you have all of your music located in the same folder on your phone? If not, move all of your music into 1 folder. Make sure that other audio files like ringtones and notification sounds are not in this folder.

    3. Have you used Poweramp settings to select the folder(s) that you want it to pull your music from? If not, go into Poweramp settings and select the folder(s) that you want Poweramp to pull your music from.

I've got music on my phone from various sources...iTunes, eMusic, Amazon, etc, and Poweramp recognizes all of them. If none of the above suggestions help, you might want to try contacting Poweramp's developer.

Thank you for the quick response.

    1. Yes I did a scan from Poweramp settings

    2. I have all my music in one folder on my SD card.

    3. I have selected the folder I want Poweramp to pull from.

There is no problem with most of my music being found and played. The files with .wma, .m4a extensions play fine. The files with .m4p extensions are the files Poweramp does not see or play. As I said I don't have a PC, Just my Note4 and Galaxy Tab 12.2 tablet and I can't find a file converter for them. I am going to contact Poweramp developers as you suggested. I don't really want to spend all that money to purchase music I already have!!

I was able to find my Google Play downloaded music with a file Explorer. I moved them to my music folder on the SD card. They now play using Poweramp. There are no song titles just numbers but that's okay, I have the music. My last challenge is to figure out how to play my .m4p files from iTunes on Poweramp. I went to their website and forum but no luck. Didn't find an email address for them but I'll look again

Amazon music does not download to the device by default.
Go to Amazon music settings and change it to auto download.
Go to recently added in Amazon music app and download them there by king pressing and choosing download. Once it has downloaded it will by default save to a "AMAZON" folder on the device storage, not external sd card. You'll have to move them to your external card if you want them there.
Hope that helps. I have years worth of Amazon music purchases and have been using them with Power Amp for years as well. It's a little bit of a nuisance when setting up the Amazon music app but is "set it forget it " after that, it'll take care of itself except moving to external cards.

Thank you mountainbikemark. I've been able to access my Google play music. I'll have to listen to each song and edit the file name but that's okay. It's 110° plus all the next week here in Phoenix so staying inside is a good idea. I'll probably purchase (again) the songs that are still coded to iTunes. I'll get them thru Amazon. When I find the folder they download to should I just add that to the list of folders Poweramp should scan or should I move them to my music folder on my SD card?
    Thanks for Support the Troops.

I found an easy solution to this problem with Google play music and power amp. I downloaded music mate to my phone and my Google play music showed up in music mate. But when I checked Poweramp it had not showed up yet. So I simply closed Poweramp, music mate and Google music app. When I reopened Poweramp all my missing Google play music was there. But music mate only moves 50 songs under the free version but I had less than that to move. I am thinking this is all you need to do. I found this solution on line over a year ago somewhere else. Hope this helps!
