    True, but it is concerning that someone can send a single text message to you and gain access to your whole phone even if the message wasn't opened. I'd be less concerned about this on an iPhone since apple handles and pushes the updates out directly so a fix can be deployed relatively quickly to a large number of devices. Fractured nature of that on Android means months will go by before users see an update to fix this and that is a long time now that the exploit has been publicly announced. With the way manufacturers do updates now only focusing on phones released in the last year or two, there are likely going to be a lot of phones out there for which an update will never be made available.

    Maybe this will spur some thought on how to improve the update process, at least for security items like this...

    first app I installed upon turning on the phone was Avira Antivirus for Android.... here's hoping its been keeping watch on the vulnerabilities... it does give me a list of compromised e'mail addresses belonging to my contacts in the Identity Safeguard tab...
