Accidentally selecting options when on a call

I've noticed an annoying occurrence on my Note 4 of late. Sometimes when on a call whilst holding the phone to my ear, I inadvertently select options and sometimes change settings.

Is this down to the screen's sensitivity or has my ear evolved to act independently of my brain?

Might be a bad Proximity Sensor.

When you talk on the phone, the screen should go dark. Pressing your fingers all over the screen while you're on the phone should do nothing. I think the screen is disabled when you're on the phone.

Some people have experienced what you're seeing due to a bad Proximity Sensor. HERE'S a thread about it. There is no setting for the Proximity Sensor on the Note 4 so it might be hardware related.
