Anybody have any workaround from keeping the original smart remote from forcing a mandatory upgrade? I hate the new peel app. I downgraded back to ice cream sandwich 4.4? from Lollipop 5.0/5.1. Lollipop is ugly in my opinion. I prefer the black notification area not the white. Unfortunately, this forced upgrade is white and doesn't look good. Also, when the app is minimized on the new version it takes up more space when minimized and it doesn't stay minimized when minimizing the app in the notification bar. If anybody has a workaround from keeping the app from forcing an upgrade to the ugly lollipop version that would be great!

Roll back to the version you want, then go into the playstore. Open the app in the play store to where you see the "uninstall/update/open" menu by the app. (Where it normally says download or purchase). Now, long press the menu button until a settings pop up comes up and uncheck "auto update". Done.

It will frequently let you know an update is available if you have your play store set to remind you of apps that can be updated. You can always turn that off for every app or live with the notification every once in a while.

Yup, the mandatory update is a piece of *&$L%RT! LOL! I hate when they force stuff on you! The only option for the Peel app in Playstore is "Enable". I have my Remote Control currently "Turned Off" at the moment, but it doesn't seem to matter if its on or off.

I never have the auto-update app checked. Why fix something if it isn't broken? Learned that way way too many times with computers and phones. The mandatory upgrade is being forced when you open the smart remote app. The white is ugly and it takes up too much real estate in my notification area now.

Anyone know how stop the remote icon from staying on the home screen after the app is closed? Even if I force stop it, it's still there.

For me I disabled notifications from the remote app since I never use the notification shade for the app anyway.
