Just thought of encrypting my data on the phone and SD card a few months ago, and all was well. And then after the Lollipop update (5.0.1), the battery life diminished to a considerable extent. Clearing the cache partition didn't work. And neither did the next update (5.1.1). So I decided to factory reset the phone and backed up my data on Kies 3.0 and removed the SD card (which was encrypted at the time) and did the reset. Then put back the memory card. Can't open any file since then, although I can open the folders. Is there something that can be done to decrypt the data?

P.S: It did tell me something about encrypting before I hit the kill switch, but I didn't pay attention to it..

If you could retrieve the data, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of encrypting it?
