My phone usually starts getting real laggy and acts weird when it gets around 30% so when I plug it in it says charging but the numbers go all the way down until they hit 0 and it charges normally or so it shows

Do you have any battery saving mode enabled? If so you could disable it temporarily and see if the problem persists.

I do not. Just the battery optimization that comes with smart manager but it's been doing this before that. I'm thinking it may be the battery but I checked it and its not swollen or anything

Had a similar experience with my phone at about the 11th month mark. Battery showed no sign of damage either. A new battery solved all my problems.

Yea battery is getting old. I have the same problem with the battery that came with my phone. Luckily, I've got a new battery and use the original one as a backup. New one hold up without any issues.

Yeah, it could be that the battery is starting to fail. Can you try with a new one?

Me too. If I take photos at around 30%, the phone shuts down and shows the battery is totally dead...

Anyone else see this? What/why is this?

My phone was getting to 19% and it would turn off and then back on over and over until I took the battery out. A new battery solved that. That is the reason I don't want a phone without removable battery!

This is why I'll move away from the note series if the next one has no removable battery. How on earth are we supposed to swap the battery if we can't even open the back?. Take it to a repair shop cost more and will take too much time compared to just what we can do now with the note 4.

When mine gets down to 30%, it suddenly says 9% moments later and takes me to the ultra power saving mode screen. It is like loosing 21% in 3 seconds. I bought a 2 pack battery set from Anker. This does not happen with those batteries.

Basically, my battery is going bad 13 months into ownership.

This is why a sealed battery is a deal breaker for me.

I wonder what issues the Note 5 folks are going to have a year or so in.

Age of a battery is sometimes mis leading. Whats important to remember in a battery is life cycle. If a battery is designed to be charge / discharged say 500 times in its life cycle and your a heavy user who does a full cycle twice a day then your battery life time is up in 250 days. So a very heavy user can go through a battery relatively quickly while the same phone / battery may last a light user a lot longer.

I think I am gonna have to buy a new battery and hope it solves my problem because my phone is already a year old this month and it just died at 43%

99% sure it will solve your problem. I have two batteries, and though both are still discharging normally I've noticed that neither has the capacity it once did. This is precisely why the Note 5 remains uninteresting to me. For $20, I can get that "brand new battery" battery life back.

Should I get a Samsung or anker battery. Which would be better and more affordable?

Anker stands by their products. I had a battery of theirs go bad on me and they worked with me to get it replaced with very little hassle. As with anything, approach them without any expectations and emotions and they'll respond positively. I had purchased it through Amazon. Enjoyed the customer service so much they're my go-to now when it comes to battery related accessories.
