    Yes, this is a publicly-aired brain-lock question.

Searched the web, searched here; the few results are not computing, so to speak.

Where, on my Note 4, do downloaded podcasts go?

"Download History" shows nada, zip, absolutely nothing, either prior to or after listening to them.

Not in "My Files". Not on the SD card. No place discoverable. Vanished. Not there.

Are they temporarily held in RAM? Are they evanescent, like an Alka Seltzer, or are they accreting in a big Heap O' Burned Podcasts someplace?

    What's the deal?

    Help the Geez out.

Which podcast app are you using?

They may be in the app's folder.

It depends where you designated they be stored - they can either be on the device or on the SD Card.

Get the PocketCasts App. It automatically manages all downloads, will sync between devices and you can store on an SD Card which is really sweet. You won't have to manually find them because it can set download and clean-up policies automatically for you. Really good App!

    Thankee, Lads.

    Hmm.

Well, I'm using the "NPR Podcasts" app, which comes with the variety I like.

Its "Settings" only allow "collect/don't collect" anonymous user data. No target storage area is designated or was requested.

Am I correct in assuming that this means the app cache temporarily holds the podcast? Or what?

And thanks for your kind consideration; I have but the most tenuous handhold on this stuff, doubtless age/culture-related. Recalibrated back a century, I began in the administration of Polk, and am now in the early tenure of Woodrow Wilson.

I use Podcast Addict and I have it set up to download new episodes once refreshed and then delete them once I listen to them.

The podcasts could very well be in the NPR Podcast folder for you.

    Thank you, VDub.

Well, that's the thing: there is no NPR Podcasts folder anywhere. No folder, no file.

In 'applications manager', I can see that there are currently 1.06MB data, and 4.77 MB cache.

Is that 'data' value the single podcast I have downloaded but not yet listened to?

If that's the case, then the app deletes downloaded casts after listening, else I would still have a bunch of them yet "stored', and the "data" figure would be much greater...(?)

Well, question resolved by ducking it entirely: Podcast Addict installed (thanks again, Vdub).

Sorry I couldn't get an answer for you. I was actually asking some other mods/ambassadors if they used the same app as you but they didn't. At least now if you use Podcast Addict you know it'll delete the podcasts you already listened to

Not a prob. Gotta be an embedded internal function of the "NPR Podcasts" player/library thing.

Addict working very well. Thanks again for the lead.

I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone! I've even had others (that are more tech savvy) try to find them. I didn't have the app (I guess this was part of the problem), but I would click on "Download", and my phone would tell me that I had successfully downloaded it. It was nowhere in sight. I've got a new phone now, and I have installed a NPR One podcast app. They are listed, albeit in a place that you have no scroll down to find---they could have it easier.

I'm certain that the podcast I wanted to listen to on my old phone is long gone, but yes, it was frustrating that I never found it. And I tried the tips listed here. Let me know if you figured it out. I'm just curious.

And check out "THINK" on NPR.

late to this thread, but I just had the same issue because my phone's memory was near full and I knew it was because I had a bunch of old podcasts on there. Here's what I did. I use the CastBox podcast app on a Samsung S8 (apparently it does not delete old downloads automatically). I opened the podcast app, found an episode I knew I had downloaded, and chose a keyword from the title of that episode (something reasonably unique like a person's name, as long as it's part of the title).

Then I plugged my phone into my laptop and opened the Samsung folder. I did a search for that keyword and it found the episode. I right-clicked (using a PC) and chose Open File Location. Bingo bango boingo, there are all of my podcosts (in this case, they are stored in separate folders for each podcast). Here's the location for my phone:

    Computer\SAMSUNG-SM\Phone\Android\data\com.podcast.podcasts\files\media

    Hope this helps.

I found the podcast player folder here.
    /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.podcast.podcasts/files
You should also search in microsd folder inplace of sdcard0.

    Cheers!
