    Believe me I try that option before the hard reset and it still didn't work. I guess you got lucky glad that worked for you.

    After updating my galaxy a7 with 6.0.1, quick notofication panel was missing. I restarted the phone in safe mode (please google how to restart a7 in safe mode) and then disabled the safe mode. suprisingly quick notification panel reappeared.

    I found this in the LG G2 discussion, but the solution that worked for me was to clear all data from "Calendar Storage." Then, I got all my notification icons/info back.
