I just got off of a chat with my carrier (Verizon). Blocking your number is NOT prohibited by any of the carriers. SAMSUNG changed software recently and that feature is no longer available. That sucks big time on the part of Samsung and I may write to them for what good it will do. BUT ... you can contact your carrier to see if they have an alternate way to block your number. Verizon told me to dial *67 and then the number. I copied and pasted from my Verizon chat conversation below. Hope that helps.
I do see that Samsung has made modifications to their software which does not allow this feature any more. I do apologize, from the resources I do have available to me, there is not a description as to why they made this decision and when it did start, however, there is another alternative to blocking your caller id : ) When you dial a number you can dial *67 and then the ten digit number and press send, this will block your caller id.
