    Family member got new cell and gave me their Galaxy Note 4. Never had data on cell before always used pay as u go for texts and calls. So don't understand much. A few questions please...is it necessary to have an email account? I want to call, text and take pics and be able to send pics from my phone. Thanks for any help!!

    Nope, no account needed, BUT if you don't register one for Google services, you would be missing out on a few things from your phone, like GMail, Calendar and Contact syncing/back up, Google Maps, Photo back up, etc. You will still be able to do basic things, but to download apps you do need a Google account (which, in turn, requires an e-mail account). Easiest way to do this is to just get a GMail account (which you can do right from your phone) and that will come with a Google account.

    Agree w/both above. At least get a gmail account and gem of a phone. Still using the same one since they came out, use the S-pen daily, and while I'd like a GN9 & it probably does things I don't know I need, I don't like the idea of a sealed battery and my GN4 really does everything I want & I still love it. Biggest problem is Samsung quit making batteries & I'm looking for an aftermarket one that'll last but I'm usually near a charger.
