Neat app... Looks like rooting the phone is required... The app does suggest a workaround...

Does the workaround work on the Note 5?

Have you rooted your phone to use this app?
There is a workaround and no root is required. You need to install some tools on your computer but here are step-by-step instructions: https://docs.google.com/presentation...dit#slide=id.p

It seems like using Instagram and Facebook together exacerbate the issue. Any app that requires facebook whether it be login or syncing will wake it up, it seems. Since Instragram is connected to facebook they ping-pong off each other. I have limited background data, I have turned off notifications but they still won't stop waking the phone up. At least with the browser you wont have to deal with the app waking your phone up from deep sleep though. I use Instagram though and there are no third party alternatives that I know of.

    Hey guys,

The update for my Note 5 has given me a problem. I noticed faster battery drain due to "Cell Standby" taking up 20% of my overall battery and it was first on the chart underneath the battery stats. Can you guys please tell me how to get rid of this issue? I already turned off VoLTE

I've had an N5 for a couple of weeks now, and battery life initially was wonderful, for my use case.

Then, in dealing with a BT auto-connect issue, I wiped System Cache in Recovery and since then, battery life is even better! Could it be the wipe, or is the phone learning or just settling-in over time.

Thrilled with battery life on the N5!

I have seen great battery life with my Note 5. Try this app called “Trepn Profiler”. Its by Qualcomm and it can give you a more task manager like data by process and help you understand where is the leak. There are several guides on google on how to use it to figure out battery issues.

Same here. Just got update this morning ...after 11 hour workday...normally at around 60 percent. Today at 35%. What gives?

Let it settle in for a couple chatge cycles. I beleive last update may have included some kernel tweaking do to video calling but jist guessing. Also after update wipe caches it helps sometimes.

I usually average around 1-1.5k minutes a month (and 2k+ text msgs). This month has been kind of light for me though.

Maybe that is what saved my battery life on my devices? Talking doesn't stress it very much. .

I actually talk on the phone a lot and also text text almost all day long. The pic below shows the history of one contact for yesterday and today.
Yes i am rooted, running a custom kernel obviously since modding the kernel is necessary to obtain root. I also undervolted all gpu, cpu, bus, etc frequencies..
Battery life has been a very important thing to me ever since i got and rooted my first smart phone, Droid Charge and i have sort of a list of things i do to every phone to help with that. Anyway the point i was trying to make is that the potential for Note 3ish battery life is totally there on the Note 5 with a bit of tweaking, and coupled with fast charging im very happy with my N5.

Do you have a guide for all your tweaks and custom kernel setup? Would really like to understand how to make the most of this awesome hardware.

Actually ill write up exactly what i do in a couple hrs when i get home. Im at my sons football game. But remember evem if you do exactly what i did your battery life may not be the same because there are so many things to factor in for example the types of apps you use, gps Bluetooth on/off, using wifi calling drains a lot of battery, bad signal strength and so on. Ill post later what i do and what i have and hopefully it helps someone.

I'm guessing the cell standby is because my signal isn't too great. Standby time has improved greatly from taking care of wakelocks

I'm in a Business trip in Buckhead, Atlanta since yesterday. Just to let you know the importance of a good signal strength, with basically the same usage as always, and I can say that even more of a power usage as I've been strictly using Cell and no wifi, but with a great signal strength here from T-mobile, I unplugged it by 7:30am, I've been using it almost non stop using Evernote and SNote to take all my notes, using GPS walking on the streets and looking for places and using Whatsapp, Hangouts and SMS a lot, I averaged about 7.75-8 hours of SoT until now that I just plugged it back to do a full fast charge before heading back to the Airport.

One thing though. I'm part of the Samsung Pay beta program but I haven't been able to add my cards yet, so the app was installed and running but without a way of using it, I noticed since I installed it that the Standby time took a dive and my Android system went up a lot, I decided to uninstall it until I can really use it and everything went back to normal, I hope that with yesterday's update this may have been fixed.

This was from a couple of days ago
Remove that battery optimizer and see if that helps the Android System go down. Of not, there is something else running up your Android System.

Do not run any battery savers, battery optimizers, task killers, etc. You will create more problems.
