Compass problem

Anyone else having an issue with their compass calibration? I cant figure out how to calibrate it. I downloaded Star Walk 2 and it is way off when looking at the stars. I used the moon as a reference. It actually just moves around by itself. Tried another app with similar results.

I can't be the only one!!!!!!!!!! Can I? I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Any input from anyone would be tremendously helpful. Tell me yours works or it doesn't. My location and things like google maps work fine. It is star gazing apps and things like that that seem to think I can move from the U.S. to China in about 10 seconds. The app just rotates slowly. My wife says I'm fast, but not that fast.

The easiest way to calibrate your compass is, right before you use it as a compass, you wave it in a 8 pattern in the air. I've done the for a long time as I also do astronomy with a celestron 9.25.
