Device encryption and fingerprint lock

Has anyone encrypted their device, and does it allow you to use the fingerprint security to unlock your phone?

I would like to encrypt it, but I know many phones only allow a pin/password unlock when your device is encrypted, and I would prefer not to encrypt it, only to find out after the fact. So if you have encrypted your device, if you could check to see if you can set the unlock for your fingerprint, I would appreciate it.

My phone is encrypted and fingerprint unlock works fine. You will need to enter the password once when powering on or restarting the phone

I have my Note5 is encrypted due to a requirement from AirWatch through my corporation. I am able to use the fingerprint scanner with no problem.
