Can I get some help connecting my Bluetooth and Car?

Problem getting bluetooth and the car going

I had a note 4 and now a note 5. I have the bluetooth working between the device and my car - a 2014 BMW X5 for phone calls and streaming music to the car. I cannot get the music in the car to mute when I press the microphone button on the text messaging or email app. My previous iPhone would mute my cars music when I did this. I also cannot get the google maps app to mute the cars music and I have bluetooth checked on that app, so I think it should work. Again, my IPhone used to do this when I was in the maps app - I would get the voice commands through my car speakers. I have a feeling the samsung device simply cannot do this? Any help is appreciated.

My note 5 when connected to my alpine in my car does all that. So did my note 4

Note 5 is DOPE

Just got some new word - my car is a 2013 - not a 2014. In 2014 BMW made changes so it would work - it will not in a 2013 X5.
