Just to get this out of the way from the get-go, I am stuck with Verizon for wireless. I live in one of those areas where they really do have the only reliable service, so I can't just dump them for another carrier as much as I would LOVE to.

After waiting as long as I could for a white 64gb Note, I finally went into Verizon yesterday to buy my black 64gb. I knew the brick and mortars didn't carry the 64gb, but I wanted to process my order from the store so they could confirm the value of my trade-in in person. Not only did they not have any in stock, but they had none in their warehouse either. There was nothing they could sell me. They couldn't even order it for me. This would have been a no-brainer EASY sale for the rep. I walked in, waited my normal 45 min to be helped, told the rep that I wanted to buy (order) the black 64gb Note 5 - the best of the best - and trade in my old phone. I had no questions. I didn't want to compare it to other phones. I didn't need a demo. I didn't even really need to look at the phone. I just wanted to pay up and be gone. Period. Done. The guy, although visibly annoyed that he couldn't make the sale, actually told me to try Best Buy down the street. If I were that guy I would have a serious bone to pick with my employer. I walked out of there feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman waving her unused credit card in the salesgirl's face as she left to go elsewhere to buy her Gucci dress. In the end, I purchased online.

Funny (sad?) side note - When the rep initially came up to me I decided to take a chance and I asked him if they had any WHITE 64gbs, knowing full well that the answer would be no. The guy actually told me that he wasn't sure and that he would check in the back! LOL! Of course I paid the price for that one because he naturally took yet another 10 minutes poking around the stock room, but I was laughing to myself the entire time. When he came back empty handed, I asked him if he was aware that Verizon doesn't even carry the White 64gb. He had no idea. He wanted to know where I found out about this. I told him I just did some research before coming in. These reps are seriously under-trained and at a clear disadvantage on the sales floor. But then I guess most customers blindly take their advice anyway. I know that they are told to push specific phones, but over the years I have never encountered a Verizon rep who could answer more than the basic, one-size-fits-all questions about any phone I've looked at in the store. No wonder people are walking around with phones - iPhones and Androids alike. - and have no idea of what features they are actually paying for. Unreal.

On launch day went to this high end mall in Palm Beach Florida and of course the Verizon store there did not have any 64gb black in stock, but they ordered it for me and the sales person got credit for the sale.
I got the phone via fed ex a few days later and traded my phone via mail.
    No hassels.
PS. You're right OP most sales people at Verizon are not trained at flagship launches.

Before I buy ANYTHING that needs to last a long time, or costs a significant amount of money, I do extensive research. I can't tell you how often I walk away being told I could sell phones, cars, appliances, etc. Most sales people have no idea, or very little info, on the product they're selling for hundreds/thousands of dollars. Sad...

How do you work for Verizon, ATT, etc and don't know the promo or inventory limitation? Smh...I could rant for days on this.
