Hi all, I'm trying to find out if the note 5 can display calendar items more than 12 months in advance on the note 5. I used to have a note 3 and it did, however every android device ive used since only syncs up to 12 months in advance.

Is it possible that somebody could do some tests and report your findings?

That's interesting. However, I couldn't test it. Outside of birthdays and holidays I don't schedule anything a year in advance.

I take bookings 2 or 3 years in advance sometimes for my work so it used to be a really nice feature until google killed it. Well, I think they've killed it but not 100% sure if the notes s-planner system works differently when syncd to google calendar..

Select the Year view in Samsung Calendar and then swipe right to see future years. I checked Google Calendar online, and used the Month view and just hit right arrow key to go forward a few years.

So, if I understand correctly what you're wanting to accomplish, looks like its possible. I don't have Samsung Calendar setup to sync with Google Calendar as I use the Google Calendar app, but you could create a Test event a few years out in Samsung Calendar and then see if it shows up (after Samsung Calendar syncs) in the online Google Calendar.

I added a couple of random entries in the year 2018, hit Refresh (while Calendar Sync is enabled) and they immediately appeared in my Desktop calendar. I launch the main Calendar app on the home screen as the font size is what I prefer whereas the Calendar widget text is too small, and sadly unadjustable.

Hit more and search on your calendar and it will be there in the tasks.

The OEM calendar on my Note 5 gives the option to schedule "forever" and does indeed do multiple year repeat event scheduling. I can also access any number of years in advance for a "one time" event.

thank you guys for testing it for me. It turns out when I do tests the issue is more prominent in the other direction... so if I add a calendar event more than 12 months in the future using desktop google calendar on my pc, it doesnt appear on my phone even after I push "syncronise" I am using aCalendar on android but i experience the same problem with the default calendar app too.

Could someone with a note 5 and also possibly someone with a non note device try to replicate this issue for me?

Note 5 on AT&T here using stock calendar synced with Google.

I added an event on my desktop to Google calendar for March 2018... synced my phone's google account... nada.

Added the same event via desktop for March 2016... synced... voila, there it was.

    Deleted both and resynced.

Added both again on my phone this time... synced... they both show up online in Google calendar.

So like you said... adding an event online more than 12 months out doesn't show on the phone.

Ah now I see what you mean. I'm getting that too. SYNC seems to work one way ie create appointment on Note 5 and it immediately gets synced on the desktop however far into the future. But the reverse doesn't work when you create entries longer than a year. I wonder if calendar engine automatically syncs those entries not previously synced when their dates eventually fall within the year. I'll reach out to the Google Calendar team to see what they say about this.

Thank you very much. It must be a recent (well, in the last couple of years) android change. I used to have a note 2 or 3 I forget which and it worked fine, as soon as I switched to a non note device it didnt work however I suspect that new device had a different version of android on it. A real shame but at least it means i don't necessarily need to go for a note 5 solely for this reason.

Thank you for taking the time to check.

Google blocks syncing the Android calendar a year in the past and I believe a year into the future. There is a 3rd party app called "Calengoo" which you can do direct Google sync with and you can sync anything old and anything into the future. It defaults to the android calendar, but you just add a sync account. It's a great calendar app.
