I found a tencent folder In My Files. I searched and it's a Chinese company and mentions data tracking and somewhat like Google tracking with all the data mining etc. Also some virus references came up.

Does anyone know what these are?

Main folder was tencent
Secondary folders were mta and tpush
Inside tpush were several folders with just #s as names with dot log as in. .log files

Did you ever install WeChat? That's from Tencent. WeChat is very popular in Asia--my wife uses it to chat with her brother, who lives in Singapore. If you install it from Google Play Store, I suspect that it's safe from malware, although I can't comment on privacy issues. Data mining is pretty much standard these days if you're going to use any kind of social media app.

Kingroot, the one-click root tool, also creates several folders, one of them is Tencent:
Tencent/msflogs/com/tencent/mobileqq/ and some logs inside of this directory.

Thanks caixamagica. I rooted with Kingroot & then replaced KR with SuperSU, but I had a feeling KR would leave behind some stuff that's not easily identifiable.
