Galaxy Note 5 suddenly doesnt recognize fingerprint, backup password, and Google login

My son just tried to use my phone and failed the fingerprint scan lock screen. Now the phone says the fingerprint scan failed, and it asks for backup password. I enter the backup password correctly (30 times now) and it doesnt work. Even the "unlock with google" option doesnt work despite carefully verifying the username and password (and even creating new password on laptop and entering it on phone just to be sure.
Now complwetely locked out. cant use fingerprint, backup password, or google login, even though I know all credentials for this. What gives?
