Does Microsoft Office for Android allow storing files locally?

I wish to install MS Office on my Note 5 and it appears that an Office 365 subscription is required for full functionality of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Can files that are created / edited with the Office 365 suite on the Note 5 be retained on a local drive such as a flash drive or must the files that are created / edited with the Office 365 suite on the Note 5 be stored in and accessed from the cloud?

Yes, When you select the save icon you have a choice and one of them is save to device. You can use a otg dongle to connect a usb drive and transfer to it.
