How to silence ringer sound during inbound call

Is there a way to silence sound when a call is incoming? When I get calls from an unknown number I just let it ring, and if a "real" call, then it can go to voicemail.

While the call is ringing, swiping down on the notification bar to expose the sound control - does not work. The dailer screen has focus. Do I need to minimize the dailer screen to expose a home screen so that I can then change sound from on to vibrate?

I'm assuming you want to silence a call once you look at the caller ID. I usually just volume down button and it silences the call and allows it to go to voicemail.

Turn ur phone face down or volume down

Both great suggestions. I'll try the volume down while on the go, and the face down while stationary or when a suitable flat surface is available. I forgot all about the face down option from earlier Notes.

I flip my phone upside down. I believe its a setting you might have to enable.
