I have some extra play store credits(thanks Google rewards) lol, and I had heard people saying that Tasker is almost a must. The only reason I would use it is to have it set to trigger my WiFi when I'm home and turn it off when I'm not. Can Tasker do this?

Tasker can do anything. There are a bunch of ready made programs ready including what you want. If that's truly all you want I'll be there's an app for that

What is the battery hit with Tasker running in the background? I know this isn't note five related, but it kind of is since it would he running on one.

If you set it by location, it will probably be a big hit to the battery. A time setup or cell signal state would be a better idea.
I set mine up by time and there is little effect on the overall battery life.

That sounds like a good idea, that would be perfect during the week when I generally have a set schedule.

The app called Automate is just like Tasker and it seems a little easier to use

I use Tasker for many things, but one of my favorites uses is when I start my car.

As soon as I start my car & the note 5 connects to bluetooth and starts playing google music I have the wifi set to turn
off (along with a "wifi disconnected" announcement) so that it doesn't automatically connect to my car's wifi network.

And then when I reach my destination (work, back home or otherwise) and the note 5 disconnects from bt I have tasker set turn wifi back on (along with the "wifi on" announcement) so I'm able to automatically connect to wifi at work or wherever.
