I would like to use my Note 5 to take a picture of text off a blackboard and then have note convert the picture to text that I can use in Snote and/or email out. I have tried to use Photonote to but can't get it to transform to text

Share the photo to Google Goggles, it will convert it.

Use the spen. Crop the photo with the spen, place the spen near the crop and you'll see a little T, touch the T with the spen to bring the next to the bottom. This might let you concert it to text. Doesn't work with all text, but most. Then copy and paste the text below.

I believe Camscanner pro version has optical character recognition that will do this.

I have tried what George Collins1 suggested. Once you've taken the picture, just share it to Goggles.

Add Google Drive widget to home screen. Press the camera icon on the widget and it will scan to PDF.

Do all these apps require "sharing" with the cloud for ocr conversion? I wonder if any are safe to use for secure materials?

I discovered with the spen you have to change to text when you select the screen shot, not after saving.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Optical Reader by Samsung. Check it out in the Galaxy Apps Store.

I have tried Optical Reader but there's too many steps. With Google Drive widget, you tap the camera, take the picture and it automatically saves it as a PDF and stores it to the cloud all at one time.

I actually keep mine in the dock on another page because I don't like it on the home screen.

    hi
try to download the extension pack. then open s note and you will see an arrow button over the create note button. click it and then you will see options, one of them is photo note.
click it and then you can use it like on the note 4
