I wouldn't mind doing the MM update from XDA. But I'm afraid I will mess it up lol

Do it. I'm positive this is the OTA that's sitting on AT&T servers just ready to go out. Some guy found it early. It's great and really flawless. This isn't the old Feb beta. Its fresh out of coding. Last kernel development was 72 hours ago. This is it.

I understand the apprehension, but it's really as easy as typing "adb sideload ota.zip". Obviously you need an adb environment set up first and need to rename the file to whatever.zip but outside of that, it's really foolproof.

What you have to get set up so your computer can talk so the phone. Google "15 second ADB". Or better yet, you may want to wait on the OTA.

Is there a downside to it? Does it trip Knox or void warranty?

Zero downsides. Doesn't trip or void anything. The update is direct from AT&T servers. You just manually load it vs having an OTA process load it.

If I could root every Android phone that I have including my Note 5, you can do this easy procedure.

If I do the side load route do I need to decrypt my phone first? And should I wipe cache partition? I saw that it factory reset the phone so I'll have to back it up obviously.

[QUOTE=coolbreeze78;5184673]I updated via the XDA method. I'm 100% sure the build there is what's going to OTA soon. It has May 1, 2016 security updates and the kernel is dated 5/16/16, so it's brand new.

Fully reset and up and running. Knox not tripped. This is great. Wasn't hard, just connect, "adb sideload ota.zip" and off you go. The file came directly from AT&T's servers, so it's fully legit. This isn't the beta version, this is the OTA that's set to go out. I have no proof but so far it is perfect.

I'll just wait for the ota. No need to fix something that isn't broken.

Giving it a shot. Using Ubuntu 16.04. Charged the device to 70% before starting. Will update you all on how it goes.

No i mean the actual one that comes over the air , not one that you have to connect your phone to a PC to get. I'm in no rush to break my phone.

    Thanks.

To the thread: remember, there is always a risk in updating any device. OTAs are no exception. In that case, you can take it to the carrier and have them fix it. I gambled and probably lost.
I still will keep the thread updated. I just can't do any more until tonite.

Oh, he'll be fine. If he doesn't brick a phone at least once trying to update something, THEN I'll get worried.
