My phone, pretty much only late at night, when I try to take it out of hibernate, it forces itself back in to hibernate. And it will do it repeatedly. After a few minutes it stops and returns to normal. Has anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to Android Central! When you say "hibernate," do you mean that the screen goes back to sleep? Is it in a case?

If you mean the screen turns on but back off within a matter of seconds, yes... I have had this issue as well. It stops if I actually pick up my phone instead of operating it on my nightstand without moving it. Haven't been able to figure out how to stop this at all.

Make sure Smart Stay is turned off. Also, do you have a case on?

Smart Stay is on. Always has been and this was never an issue before Marshmallow. Not sure why that would need turned off but I'll give it a shot.

I do have a case on at most times but not always.

Is the case the kind with a flipcover? If so, then is the flipcover typically folded behind the phone in these situations? A poorly designed case can sometimes have an embedded magnet in the flipcover that is too strong and triggers the smartcover sensor (which puts the screen to sleep) even when the cover is folded behind the phone. Along these lines, also make sure there no strong magnets of any kind on your nightstand.

It is not a flip cover - just a minimal clear tpu case. No magnets nearby at all.

Does this persist in Safe Mode? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-27639

Also, does it happen when the phone is resting on any other surface, or just your nightstand? If it's just your nightstand, then let me harp on the magnets one more time--make sure there are no magnets in the nightstand drawer (if applicable), and that the drawer doesn't use magnets to latch closed.

Happens on any surface and there are definitely No magnets. I kept it on the couch cushion last night to be sure. Went to bed at 79% and woke up 7 hours later at 41%. That definitely isn't right.

So there's new battery drain now? Ok, first let's just clarify a couple of things:

    1. You said you tried turning off Smart Stay--I assume that didn't help, correct?
    2. Did you try Safe Mode yet?
