Red light under the flash.

I bought my Note 5 a year ago. A couple of days ago, I noticed a red light flashing for a second on the back of the phone, just below the flash. It seems to happen when I am in a dark place and it happens when I press the home key to unlock the phone.

This is probably not a problem, but I have never noticed it before. My guess is that is something to do with the flash and the camera.

Any help, will be appreciated.

Not sure what that could be. I just tried on my N5, and I didn't see a red light. What carrier and build number do you have?

Some cameras have a red light to help the cam set flash or focus I think. Also, aren't heart rate monitors red?

I have got the "C" version.
It is the heart rate light that is flashing, it just did it again.
A quick press on the home key, in low light seems to activate it.

I have a galaxy note 8. When I am using my front facing camera (selfie camera) a little red light appears when anything gets within a cm of it. I believe it is some type of sensor. Hope this helps

Its a "button" for taking selfies. If you "tap" the flash in selfie mode it takes a photo (worked it out accidently)

It's actually both lol
