HOWEVER, Samsung and Samsung always work better together, so their line of SD Cards are probably your best bet.
Absolutely true - a Samsung branded SD card will be more reliable than most brands - at least that was the case with the Note 4, and I tried multiple "top" brands (Sandisk, Lexar, etc.), but finally settled on a Samsung-branded card - that was the only one that didn't fail on me.

Have been using this one for several weeks. Fastest Micro SD card I've ever used. (However, when I bought it from BB it was for $99, not the $299 for which it's currently selling. Ouch.) SanDisk Extreme PLUS 128GB microSDXC UHS-I Class 10 Memory Card Black SDSQXWG-128G-ANCMA - Best Buy

I'm signed up for the free SD card but it looks like it's going to take up to 12 weeks to get it so I'm probably going to get the Samsung Pro+ 64 GB to use in the meantime.

I went with the 256GB card from the promotion. Don't have it yet, but figured it to be the better deal. Since the phone is already 64GB, I'll probably use the memory card in our video camera.

Didn't feel the need to go for the Fit2 since I already have the Band 2 and am more than content with it.

you already burn through the ~50GB of onboard storage left on your phone out of the box? I really wonder how many people need 256GB in their phone. If I get anything to add to the phone it will probably be a 64GB for < $40

    Samsung 256Gb $250 @ BBY but SanDIsk 256GB $150.

I had searched & for a great comparison & speed tests which concluded they are approx =
One did slightly better in 1 test & the other in another test. I can't find the web page now.

I ended up ordering the 256GB card as my "free" gift from BBY when preordering my phone. Did I receive it on launch day when I got my phone? No. BBY claims I will definitely get it but will have to wait a couple months. We'll see if I ever receive it or instead get "a story."

Those two cards aren't really comparable. The SanDisk has much lower write speeds than the Samsung.

SanDisk has a card coming out in Q4 that matches the Samsung card in write speed but it will be priced at $199.

I also don't know about now, because Samsung moved away from SD cards, but there was a time a lot of people with Samsungs were having a lot of ScanDisk card fails.

Historically, SD cards have been nothing but problems for Samsung. It's probably why they abandoned it in the Note 5. Although there's no definitive evidence linking SD cards to slow performance, there's enough anecdotal evidence that's pretty conclusive. Market demand, however, has been overwhelming, so they brought the SD card back in the Note 7.

And, there's also enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that Samsung-branded cards work best in Samsung phones. Not sure why this would be, but I've found it to be true, as have others. File corruption seems to occur much more frequently on non-Samsung-branded cards.

Card speed has little to do with performance (assuming it's a reasonably fast card), other than file copying speed, so buying the fastest cards there are won’t help much, if at all.

Just my opinions from years on these boards and 3 Note phones.

I've never had an issue with my SD cards with my Samsungs, but I never bought the big high performance cards. That's when I saw a lot of problems with cards.
