Sounds like you didn't make it clear enough to them that you were within the 14 days.
They were clear as *they* told me I had until Saturday (even wrote it down for me) to return it when I brought it in for the exchange.

They were even considering returning it that night because they weren't sure when they would get more in. Since we had a few days left and they thought they might get some in we just held off.

Everything changed when the recall broke.

Not sure why you are surprised here.. I'm certainly not the only one who has reported issues with BB in the past on their exchange policies.

Sorry - not sure what else to say but believe it - BB refused my return.

I've been purchasing items from BB for years and never had a problem returning an item until now.

I actually had brought it in the night before the recall broke to exchange it (surprise - the battery wasn't holding a charge correctly and lost all power) and they didn't have any available. They expected more in the next day or two. The next day I was on day 12/13 when the recall news broke and I decided to simply try to get it returned at that time (when Samsung noted a return/refund would be allowed on all devices).

Once the news broke BB changed their story and told me to hold onto the device until the new notes were in stock - even after I asked numerous times up to the store management level to return the device since I was in 14 days (as well as Samsung was instructing their retailers to return the devices for a refund). No dice.
Best buy does have a restocking fee. It was started back up the week the Note 7 got released I believe. There is a restocking fee for any mobile device. We read it and at my store we let the customer know every time they get a new phone.

However in the case of the Note 7 returns/exchange, there is NO restocking fee.

As far as if all packaging has to be included with your Note 7, idk. I did a exchange today for a woman that was told she needed to bring the box and cords as well.

All Note 7 including liquid damaged, cracked screen etc can be exchanged...even if the 14 Day period has passed.

BB refused to allow you to return your device when you was still well within your 14 day return window is ridiculous... It has to be another reason why they didn't let you intially exchange the phone....maybe you were a day late...or maybe the phone was damaged in some way.

But based off what you said, you said you went to return it on the 14th day. Remember the day you bought the phone counts as the first day. Don't ask me why, but that's how it is. Now if you tried to return the phone the day the recall was announced, you probably got turned away because of one of three reasons...the first being you was out of your 14 day return period, second..news of the recall process didn't come out till later that evening and still it wasn't quite clear and third...whomever helped you at BB didn't know exactly what they were doing, checking emails etc.

I tried to return it the 12th and 13th day... Not the 14th.

I had all the original packaging, etc.

The restocking fee is a moot point - it never came up during the process/discussion with BB. If they offered to take the return and charge me the fee - at that point I was ready to do anything to simply return the device.

I cannot state it more clearly - BB refused my return. They were willing to initiate the return before the recall. For whatever reason after the recall - they denied my return and asked me to work only with Samsung.

I don't know the reasons why they elected to not allow me to return - nor do I really care much at this point any longer as ATT stepped up and did the return anyway.

Speaking of ATT - as I type this I now remember the rep noting I was on day 13 when I returned the device to them. I had discussed this entire process with them and they were quite surprised as well that BB wouldn't allow me to return the device.

The process to return the device did take quite a bit of effort (~3hrs) because I was one of the first at ATT to return it under their return/loaner/exchange process.

Time to eat some crap for breakfast. I was informed that Best Buy mobile has indeed implemented a $35 restocking fee again as of August 15th. Apparently the stores in my area have chosen not to implement it and thats why I havent been charged one. So I apologize, clearly I was wrong.

While I working was there technically best buy always had a restocking fee but it just almost all store disregarded that unless you was being rude or return things too much except on phones. The restocking fee never left their return and exchange pamphlet.

I'm wondering now if the store that not allowing the returns are small box or big box stores.

Is there a separate link/page to indicate the Samsung recall on Best Buy's page?

When I go to the recall section on Best Buy's website, I see no mention of the Samsung recall.

I saw it there the day of the announcement from best buy, but not today.

They never added it to that page. Im thinking its because it was a voluntary recall.

    It's all good.

In our situation with the Note7 we don't have to worry about it.

It's obvious that in your posts you have merely tried to put out the most accurate first hand info you had plus some insider gouge that I have found to be useful so I applaud you for that and for setting the record straight re the restocking fee. Thanks.

If you can go to a Carrier Store and they are not charging a Restocking fee when Best Buy seems to be.
Why would you not want to go to a carrier store than to go to Best Buy?
Best Buy was a great place to get the phone, and free accessories without having to wait on them.
I bought my phone at Best Buy, But I got the email from At&t whom is my carrier, stating that there was a recall.
As of yesterday afternoon, Even At&t corporate store DON'T EVEN KNOW when they are gonna have replacement phones.
Its too soon in the Ball Game.
    The Blind leading the BLIND
And the consumer is calling out the Wazoo wanting to know what to do.
Its got to be a hard time for Samsung to make millions of phones to fill the orders in the time that the are suppose to do it.
Don't know how they can make that many phones so fast either.

Im on a business account so I have to go to a corporate store. I only deal with best buy for personal phones.

As for how they can make so many phones so fast, Apple produces 500,000 a day. Im sure Samsung is pretty close to that number which means 5 days to replace all the bad phones.

Was a lot of the Samsung phones not make in Korea.
And is Apple phones not made entirely in China.

    Might have different operations setup.
And that could be a huge difference.

And some of the Phones are now being made in Vietnam too.

But Still 500,000 phones in a Day is unreal for me to even think about.

Its a ton of phones in a day but hopefully Samsung is close to that number so we can all get our new phones quickly. Im sitting here trying to not go out and buy another Nexus 5x, Honor 8 or Axon 7 to hold me over. Ive been using my Active and I honestly hate it so its up for sale.

I'm still charging my Note 7 just like I have done since I got it.
And still using it just like I have from Day one.
I just don't charge it now and walk off and leave it.
If I do I lay it in a Cast Iron Skillet on the Stove for safety reasons.

But I refuse to run scared because of about 35 phones catching fire out of millions sold.

I had to return mine. The LCD crapped out the day of the recall otherwise I would still have it. I didnt think Id be bothered turning it back in but I actually miss the phone. I just got my supcase too and only got to use it for a day.

The thing about this recall.. This just highlights a problem that has always been there with Best Buy. It is like each Best Buy is their own little country with their own laws.

It is why I rarely buy anything from Best Buy anymore. There are some deals I will go get if they are really good deals, but it has been since the Note 4 came out that I have spent a single dime at Best Buy.

The cheapest price isn't always the best deal. If you have a problem and have to fight to get it resolved, sometimes that $100 you saved isn't worth it.

I'm in the same boat.. using this s7e for a few days right after coming from the N7 only solidifies my decision to get the N7 as soon as they are back in stock.

The s7e is nice but there are several things I'm missing already (albeit minor). Just merely holding the s7e is uncomfortable when compared to the N7... add to this all the tweaks to the UI were also quite noticeable ...

Yeah, it seriously highlights a problem with Best Buy.

This is my first time buying a smart phone from Best Buy and this will be my last especially with how they are handling this recall situation. I won't say I'll never shop there cause sometimes deals do come about that's hard to pass up.

The phone department seems to be the worst.

Once I won a TV and it had an issue, Best Buy let me return it to them and even let me pay about $75 to upgrade my exchange to a larger size.

But cell phones.. I've bought two, won't ever do that again.

I have never had any problem returning anything at Best Buy. I will find out how the exchange will go in a couple weeks. I was going to just keep my 2 Note 7's but decided to exchange if I can get 2 new blue ones like we have now. If not I will just keep them. Living life on the edge. I have to admit this is a pain. Took a while to get the phone like I wanted! Oh well, Life sucks sometimes and this is one of them.

imo the only good reason to buy Phones at Best Buy is only the protection plan well the accidental one otherwise your carrier sometime easier to deal with since you have to deal with them regardless.... I will still buy from Best Buy as things like this dont bother me really... not to mention I bought my Phone with Gift cards so im stuck anyway lol...
