How big is the battery in the iPhone 6s Plus?
    2750mAh.

A bit on the small side for a 5.5-inch device, but it has fantastic energy efficiency.

Guess mAh isn't the answer. Maybe this is more complicated than 100 mAh.

Yup. Battery size is only directly comparable when the device is identical. Even with very similar specs like the s6 and Note 5,the note 5 was around 15-20% larger battery, but got like 50% if not more battery life

Discussing battery life is very complicated, because there's so many factors and variables.

Battery capacity, hardware efficiency and software optimization are just a few of the factors. Radio performance, cellular signal and others do need to be considered too.

And of course, the usage pattern of the individual always needs to be taken into account. This is arguably the one major factor, because everyone uses their phones differently and different usage patterns affects battery uptime and SOT differently.

It would be nice but sadly it isn't the case. Maybe the Note isn't for you?

I'll reserve my judgement on battery claims for real world results. So many times people judge on specs and the opposite happens.
Real world results annoy me. All people crowing they get 15 hours sot while playing games and streaming video simultaneously. It's nonsense. Then some poor schlub like me asks for tips to get more than 3 hours sot and it's all shut of this and that and everything else.

    I go by battery size.

Well some do get that. Everyone's usage is different -- but if you can show the screenshots and stuff of what you get well. That is really all one can do to show it.

Battery size isn't everything. There are some mid-range / cheapo phones with big batteries yet drop like a rock since size isn't the only factor.

That's fine, that's your choice. But just keep in mind that you might still be complaining about the battery life on a phone with which you consider to have a good battery size, whereas a phone with what you consider to be insufficient battery size might get you better battery life.

The Note 5 wasn't bad. However, I would like something that would last a little longer for those days at Disneyland, Sea World, Flower Fields etc. The S7E worked well in the aforementioned cases for me. Hopefully the N7 can deliver.

Shouldn't we also be angry about the camera? It will only have 12 MP. This will give it worse pics than my 1 year old 16 MP LG G4! (kidding).

I was about to write a wall-o'-text about MP count and why more isn't necessarily better.....until I saw the end.

A bigger battery does not preclude improvements in kernel power usage etc. Keeping that in mind obviously bigger is better. Shutting down push notifications to save power is not an improvement. I need push email and I need 3 accounts.
I was very excited about initial reports of a 4000mAh battery. Now everyone is thrilled to get 3500? If bigger isn't better why were people gushing about initial reports of 4000mAh capacity? I would think a bigger screen would pull more power.

I'm amazed official specs still haven't leaked. Waiting makes me cranky.

It's still a 500mAh improvement over the Note5. And that depends on display. A bigger display will draw more power, but it also depends what type of display it is, and other factors.

Frankly, discussing about battery life is way more than just mAh, efficiency, display power draw and whatnot. It's much more complicated than that.

Truth of the matter is, talking about battery life is much more than discussing mAh numbers.

But if you make all the same improvements in efficiency the 4000mAh battery still outlasts the 3500 mAh battery. In that sense it really is not very complicated.

Maybe the 3500 mAh battery charges in less time. That is its only advantage.

I have a hunch Google could do a lot more to improve battery life but less data flow to and from them might cost them $. I don't know.

We'll have to see when it is official. As long as it lasts longer than my LG G4 and One M7, I'm not overly concerned about it.

Even though I'd love to see a 4000mAh battery.

I'm with recDNA, no one is arguing that kernel efficiency and whatever super sauce Samsung will use to improve battery efficiency. That's all great but with the 4000 mAh battery it would have been more awesome. Comparing to Note 5 sure it's great but compare to S7 edge it's disappointing, yeah we know that s-pen takes additional space. Some of us were just hoping that with larger space available 5.7 compared to 5.5 and some component design improvements inside they could squeeze in little larger battery than 3600 and also a S-pen.

I'm not sure if the Note7 is *that* much bigger than an S7e.

Kevin has a Spigen Thin Fit for both phones and the Note 7 is barely larger than the S7e in overall size. Yeah, it's a little taller and a tiny-bit wider, but the difference isn't too significant.

Now, if they made the actual display bigger, bring in dat battery. 6-inch display + battery closer to 4000mAh if possible. Maybe it'll be in the Note 8? Samsung, you listenin'?
