Is it just me, or is the Note 7 helping folks with their creep game?

    Can't wait to get mine!

Yep and the feature he mainly touts is the power saving features and display scaling I posted about. Very under appreciated feature that should gain steam once the device is released.

My guess is Samsung is using this stock scaling feature as testing ground for 4K displays next year, since 4K is really intended for Gear VR on the Samsung units. Still seems it will run too hot for VR (even for video) unless in void mode (black background with just video).

Samsung will either need to add some new cooling tech, or have chips 10nm next year to get the heat down for 4K VR. Splitting into two display VR at 1440p each chokes PC's with better heat displacement, yet alone a tiny device.

The scaling feature... It really saves not very much battery... I wouldn't use it unless you absolutely need every last bit of juice

I suspect we don't really know how much battery it saves yet.

We can see estimates in some early videos. But, like everything, I bet it will depend on any number of factors, the biggest of which might be: How much screen on time from that point on would that user have? Also, the type of apps used with the screen on, such as screen intensive apps(heavy gaming, YouTube, video chats) drawing power are probably factors that will make the battery savings amount vary somewhat.

Any app that uses the GPU much will benefit a lot more. Stock battery calculations are linear and do not account for actual app type usage (CPU or GPU weight). The question is does Samsung's battery calculations take the user's actual app usage through time? Then you should get a more accurate estimate.

Another question is does the scaling actually drop the resolution for all apps? Easy way to test is to set the device to 720p and see how games look then. Should notice from 1440p down to 720p.

Your answer sounded so much more official than mine!

Lol. Not convinced yet I see :-) I am pretty sure only you still have this question. Yes, all apps :-)

Lol it's been said multiple times it's all apps. I mean the display is scaled. It's not scaling the app back so it only makes sense that it would be all apps...

I assume nothing until I test so went to Best Buy to test, but the demo bloat disables the battery options. Then went to Verizon and confirmed it works with games and browsers. BTW, the Best Buy demo bloat does a disservice to the device. Much worse then Verizon. Verizon seems like stock in comparison.
